Turun
International helps select companies build their international
export business. We’re also on the
lookout for new products and services for the patient safety
and care home market sectors.
The company is owned by John Brasch,
founder and former president of Senior Technologies, INC. (STI).
Stanley aquired STI in July 2002, and Brasch retired from the
helm in early 2004.
During his tenure at Senior Technologies,
Brasch positioned the company as a leader in domestic and international
elder care products. STI pioneered restraint-free devices for
people with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia with
its patented WanderGuard departure alert system.
The company
also developed wireless nurse-call systems, specialty locks
for the care industry that work with fire codes, mobility monitors
for people at risk of failing, and equipment field support.
This
practical experience provides with unique expertise in matters
of marketing, manufacturing, product development, international
trade and business startups. Though Turun has existed as international
distributor of STI products since the 1990s, Brasch is instilling
a decidedly entrepreneurial spirit in the company.
“We want to work with others who can benefit from our
experience”, Brasch says. “Our goal is to help
those with whom we work to be successful. If we can help make
a difference for a valued partner, then our own success is
assured.”
With a doctorate in business administration from Washington
University, Brasch is a former professor of international marketing
and management at the University of Nebraska who has been published
in the “Harvard Business Review.”
In 2005,
Brasch accepted a three-quarters appointment as associate vice
president for technology transfer at the University of Nebraska.
He remains active in various university and civic organizations,
including chairing the Technology Council of the Lincoln Partnership
for Economic Development.
He has served as a board member and,
for one or more terms, president for the Midwest International
Trade Association, The Lincoln and Greater Nebraska Chapter
for the Alzheimer’s
Association and The Health Care Manufacturers Marketing Council.
He has also served on the boards of the Lincoln Senior Center
Association, Instrumentation Specialty Company (ISCO), and
the University of Nebraska Technology Development Corporation.
He has been a member of the board delegates of the American
Health Care Association.
